- What is the Vicksburg Area Chamber of Commerce?
The Chamber is comprised of an assortment of area individuals who volunteer their time and energy. The goal of the Chamber is to encourage doing business in the Vicksburg area and making Vicksburg, as a community, a better place for business in general.
- Is the Chamber for Vicksburg Village Businesses only?
No. We represent the entire Vicksburg and South County area. Businesses from any of the surrounding areas are eligible to join.
- What are some of the accomplishments or results the Chamber has enjoyed?
The Chamber publishes a Visitor's Guide and Community Directory approximately every 18 months. This Guide provides information about our area and event happenings to help draw people to town. This has been a great piece to promote our area.
- What are some of the current projects in which the Chamber is involved?
The Chamber's main event each year is the Ice Festival & Chili Cook-off held the 1st Saturday in February. We offer free Concerts in the Park Series during June, July and August which draws people to downtown Vicksburg. We are also working on a Scholarship program.
- Tell me about the meetings held by the Chamber?
The Chamber Board meets monthly at 6:30pm on the second Monday of each month to discuss the ongoing efforts of the various committees. Four times per year the meetings are open to all Chamber Members as well as the general public. During the open meetings, Chamber Members have the opportunity to provide a short presentation about their business. The open meetings are designed to be a business community networking opportunity.
- What benefits does a member of the Vicksburg Area Chamber of Commerce enjoy?
Chamber Members are recognized in the area as involved members of the community. They are listed in the business directory on the Chamber website and are listed on special printed pieces of the Chamber. In addition, the opportunity to get involved and make a difference can be a wonderful benefit personally as well as professionally. There is also an optional "Member to Member" discount program available.
- What does it cost to be a Member of the Chamber?
Annual dues vary depending on the size and type of business. Dues are pro-rated and renew each October 1.
- If I were to join, am I required to do anything in particular?
No. As a member, you will receive a window decal and desk plaque proclaiming your membership, but you are not required to be involved. There are a number of committees in which the Chamber and the community could benefit from your involvement including: marketing, membership, events, finance, and economic growth. Naturally, your involvement would be appreciated and encouraged, but that is entirely your choice.
- How do I join the Chamber?
Simply complete a membership form and we will will invoice you after your application is approved. Dues are pro-rated to the end of our fiscal year (September 30). The Board approves new members each month and you will be considered an active member once you are approved and your dues have been paid.
